Generous financial support from Wellesley’s Friends of the Library group allowed us to digitize almost four hundred letters to and from Whitney during her years abroad, and Professor Jacki Musacchio has taught seminars and independent studies with this material since 2012. Studying these largely unpublished letters gives students a vivid understanding of women’s lives in the past; some of their efforts will be published on a future version of this website, allowing them to make their own contributions to scholarship.
