Fetch for Macintosh
What is this software?
Fetch is an easy-to-use program for transferring files. It uses the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) to allow a networked Mac to transfer files directly from or to any connected machine that supports SFTP.
Where to find this software
Campus classroom and lab Macs have Fetch installed.
You may install Fetch on your personal Mac.
Get the installer and license for Fetch
- Downloadversion 5.8, or check to see which version you need, atthe vendor's web site.
Note: If you see an error message warning you that it may contain an application, click Download. - The license information you will need for 5.8 is available on the campus network:
- Ifon campus, make sure your computer is connected toWellesley SecureWiFi
- Ifoff campus,connect to the VPN
- Connect to theacademicstoreserver using yourWellesley username and password
- in theFinder'sGomenu,Connect to server,smb://academicstore/software
(Got an error? try academicstore.wellesley.edu instead of just academicstore,
orwellesley\usernameinstead of just your username)
- in theFinder'sGomenu,Connect to server,smb://academicstore/software
- Open the folder containing the installer:facstaffstudents, thenFetch
- Open theFetchLicensetext file
- Copythelicensecontained in the text file; it begins with FETCHEX001
Install and license Fetch
- Follow their instructions to install Fetch. Roughly:

When the download is complete, quit out of your browser, and if it doesn't open automatically,find the Fetch installericon on your Desktop or in your Downloads anddouble-clickit to open it.

Drag theFetchicon into theApplicationsfolder (you may need to be in View > as Icons... in the Finder in order to see it).

Drag FetchtoApplications

Drag theFetch installericon from your Desktop to theTrash.

- Run Fetch(find it using Spotlight, or in Finder, Go, Applications)
- If aregistrationwindow appears, click theSerial...button and paste in the license information you copied in the previous section
