Applying for Student Employment Positions!

Welcome to Student Employment! We are excited you are looking for an on-campus position and we are ready to assist in the application process. All on-campus positions are posted inWorkday. Students with work-study included in their financial aid package are given preference for on-campus positions. Position posting dates for each semester will be posted on theFor Student Employeeshomepage. In addition, positions may be posted throughout the Academic Year as well on an as needed basis.

To be eligible to apply for on-campus positions, a student must be enrolled in afull course loadand studying on-campus. Students studying abroad and students taking a leave of absence are not eligible to apply for positions until they return to campus full time. International students should consultSlater International Centerto learn more about on-campus employment eligibility based on their status.

First Year Student Employment

As a first-year student eligible for work-study, it is important to apply for positions before coming to campus. In early August, first year students who have received a student employment award throughStudent Financial Servicesare given early access to Wellesley’s online student employment job postings throughWorkday. Certain campus departments are designated as first year student employers. These departments/offices include: Physical Education, Recreation, Athletics (PERA), Library and Technology Services (LTS), Career Education, Dining, and Student Life.

Work-Study

Wellesley College Student Financial Services awards students work-study aid based on a number of factors. There are two types of work-study students may receive, Federal Work-Study and Wellesley Student Work. To find out if you have work-study included in your financial aid package, please contactStudent Financial Services.

If your financial aid package includes a work-study award, you are highly encouraged to apply for an on-campus student employment job or off-campus volunteer position throughCivic Engagement. Students with work-study included in their financial aid package are given preference for on-campus positions, especially during select time periods. However, students with work-study are not guaranteed a position nor are they required to work on campus.

Students are paid for their work via direct deposit. Work-study is not disbursed to the student's account and does not reduce the tuition bill. The way to receive these funds is to be hired, work, and submit time. Students generally use these funds for personal expenses they incur during the year. Students can choose to meet with Student Financial Services at any time to transfer their award amount to another type of aid (generally loan).

Applying to Positions

You can find positions inWorkdayby clicking on the “Career” worklet (button) and then clicking “Find Jobs for Students.” Students must apply for posted positions by completing the brief application and uploading a cover letter and resume. All applicants, including those declined, will receive an email notification when the position has been filled.

In addition, students with Federal Work-Study are invited to apply for off-campus positions within Wellesley College. These positions are posted on Workday but are managed throughCivic Engagementwithin Career Education. Questions about these positions can be directed tocivicengagement@wellesley.edu.

Career Education

The office ofCareer Educationworks with students to explore internship, fellowship, scholarship, and career opportunities throughout their time at Wellesley College. Career Education also provides information on career readiness skills and allows students the opportunity to meet with anAdvisor for Career Exploration(ACE). All students are encouraged to review Career Education resources and meet with their ACE as needed for resume, cover letter, and interviewing support.
