German 202W offers language instruction equivalent to Ger 202 on campus, but it differs from the on-campus version as we will be taking advantage of the immediate cultural context available to us on site in Berlin. The cultural component of the course will explore Berlin’s legacy as a political and cultural capital with a rich artistic heritage. The course will include a number of mandatory cultural site visits.

GERMAN 202 W combines two elements:
中德
Like 202 on campus, this course strengthens and expands all language skills with special emphasis on idiomatic usage by means of grammar review, oral and listening practice, readings on contemporary and historical topics, and practice in composition. As an intensive course, Ger 202W is rather demanding in terms of the time and effort needed to succeed. The program includes daily classroom instruction and additional assignments linked to the city's cultural dimension.
In addition to the Intermediate German immersion program, this course has an important cultural component which will focus on Berlin's important historical, political, and cultural presence throughout the centuries. In the course of our exploration we shall visit fascinating museums, sites of specific historical significance, and attend related cultural events. More information will be made available at a later point of time.
By taking this intensive course in Berlin, students accelerate their language studies. As a result students can take more advanced German language and culture/literature courses in the spring semester which will prepare students for a semester or year of study abroad during their junior year. We are therefore particularly interested in affording students who wish to continue with German to have this opportunity to accelerate.
The program fee will cover the following costs: course credit, instruction and lecture program, airfare (Boston-Berlin and return) and airport transfers, as well as the following costs in Berlin: room & board, city transportation, museum and other entrance fees, and required group cultural outings.
Please keep in mind that students will also need some pocket money for personal expenses.
The group will leave together from Boston Logan Airport for Berlin. The group will be back on campus before wintersession ends. Please keep in mind that students need to be present for the entire period of wintersession and that class meetings may be scheduled before departure and upon return from Berlin. The exact departure and return dates and times will be announced as soon as plane reservations are secured, butstudents must plan now to be back on campus on the first day of wintersession for mandatory class meetings在波士顿的洛根机场共同出发之前。The first day of wintersession is TBD. Wintersession will end on TBD.
应用材料将分发给注册GER 201的学生。
